Getting Started with LinkedIn (3 hours)

About the workshop

This three-hour beginner’s workshop will help you set up a professional LinkedIn account. With the help of a facilitator, you’ll get to:

  • Develop various sections in your LinkedIn profile;
  • Set your LinkedIn privacy settings;
  • Find and make connections with your network;
  • Contribute to professional conversations; and
  • Increase your confidence in searching for jobs, people, and companies on LinkedIn.

Participant requirements

  • Participants must bring their completed resume. Ideally, participants would have completed the Resume Writing workshop in advance.
  • Participants must have remote access to a valid email address for profile setup.
  • Participants must have intermediate English language skills (speaking, writing and reading) to participate in discussion and classroom exercises.
  • Participants must be comfortable using a computer and mouse, and must be able to browse the internet and use Microsoft Word. Computer skills training in available in the Employment Services Directory.
  • Participants must attend the full workshop. If you cannot attend, please withdraw your registration by clicking the 'Cancel Registration' link found in your confirmation email.

Notes

  • We support a fragrance-free environment.
  • You may bring your personal laptop. Venues are WI-FI enabled.
